Did the Chromebook disconnect from the building wireless or is it having trouble connecting?
Many issues can be resolved by a power cycle. When Chromebooks have difficulty connecting to the wireless network, please hold the power button for about 10 seconds until the device shuts down. Once the Chromebook is off, hold the power again until the device starts up again. If the device connects to the wireless network after the power cycle, return it to the student and send them back to class. If the device will not connect after troubleshooting, please issue the student a loaner and fill out the form below.
Does the student report that the device "won't turn on" or "has no charge"? (Even if they report charging it all night)
Please plug the Chromebook into one of the provided chargers and attempt to turn it on after 2 minutes. If the device powers on, then it needs to be charged. Please remind the student to charge it every night and make sure the 2 sections of the charger are fully connected. If the student reports the next day that the device will not charge, a new plug will be issued by filling out the form below.
If the device will not turn on after being plugged in for a few minutes and attempting to power cycle, please fill out the form below and issue a loaner.
Are images on the Chromebook Screen sideways or upside down?
Someone has "adjusted" the screen orientation. With student logged into the Chromebook, please hit ctrl+shift+refresh until the screen is rotated properly.
Does the Chromebook have the Text to Speech function enabled? (device announces every letter typed)
Someone has turned on the text to speech function. To turn it off please hit ctrl+alt+z and a message will appear that saying that it is disabled.
